Probiotic Pearls® Immune

Palm oil is a natural plant product that is produced from the fruit of the oil palm, or Elaeis Guineensis tree. The exact amount of palm oil in Probiotic Pearls® Immune is proprietary. However, it is a miniscule amount per pearl; the amount is less than the weight of an apple seed.

Palm oil in Probiotic Pearls® Immune actually “seals” the probiotic bacteria in the capsule, which protects them from air. Probiotic bacteria are anaerobic, meaning they do not require oxygen to live. In fact, the presence of oxygen can actually injure or kill probiotic bacteria. In addition, the palm oil's ability to seal the bacteria in the capsule eliminates the need for the nutritional supplement to be refrigerated – though they can be kept in the refrigerator if desired.

The outer coating components are part of the True Delivery™ Technology system, which protects the probiotic bacteria from the harsh stomach acid so that they can be released into the intestines. The coating ingredients, pectin and gelatin, are listed on the label.

Probiotic Pearls® Immune offers 1 billion cfu, the general daily recommendation, in a tiny pearl-shaped capsule. This amount confers health benefits because the probiotics are protected from heat, moisture, and stomach acid so they can arrive intact in the intestines.

Unlike the original Acidophilus Pearls^TM active cultures, the Probiotic Pearls® Immune capsule is brownish pink in color. Probiotic Pearls® Immune contains lactoferrin, an iron-binding protein, responsible for the brownish pink color.

The gelatin in Probiotic Pearls® Immune is derived from fish (tilapia).

Recent research on probiotics has suggested that many people can take daily dosages in amounts far in excess of the 1 billion CFU per day delivered by Probiotic Pearls® Immune. While the optimal daily dose is unknown and may vary from person to person, studies have looked at doses as high as 100-200 billion cfu/day. It is always a good idea to confer with your health care professional when deciding what daily dose of probiotics may be optimal for you.

Lactoferrin is a powerful immune-enhancing protein, first isolated in milk.† Because of its high affinity for iron, lactoferrin will retain a small amount of iron—very small. For all intents, the highly concentrated brand of lactoferrin found in Probiotic Pearls® Immune is essentially iron-free.

Take them with meals, between meals, or whenever it is easiest for you to remember.
