Frequently Asked Questions
Multivitamins do expire, but not in the way you might think. After the expiration date, they can start to lose potency, which means you won’t get the maximum benefits.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration doesn’t require manufacturers to include the expiration date on supplements, but Nature’s Way does. We want you to always know the quality and freshness of our multivitamins and supplements. Many of our multivitamin formulas have a shelf life of two years, so long as they are stored according to instructions on the label.
Herbal supplements do have an expiration date on the package. Their expiration dates have more to do with the quality of the product and its ability to perform as expected. After the expiration date, potency may decrease, and you may not get the same effectiveness from the product.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration doesn’t require manufacturers to include the expiration date on supplements, but Nature’s Way does. All products sold in our herbal supplement store carry an expiration date based on potency testing.
Probiotics are living microorganisms that provide a health benefit, and prebiotics are the foods that feed them. Prebiotics stimulate the growth of good microorganisms in the gut. Prebiotics are naturally found in beans, onions, bananas, and whole grains. They’re even present in breast milk. Prebiotics aren't digested by humans, so they can pass through your system to reach the bacteria in your gut that consume them.
Nature’s Way has both prebiotics and probiotics in supplement form including Fortify® 30 Billion Daily Probiotic. Alternatively, you can get standalone probiotics without prebiotic from both our Fortify and Pearls ranges.
As with any supplement, it’s important to read the label recommendations and consult a healthcare professional to make sure the product is right for you.
