How to Stay Cool This Summer

Beat the heat and stay hydrated and happy when the temperatures rise.

The heat is on! If you live in a region where summer means skyrocketing temps, high humidity, or TK, you know all about the ups and downs of the sunshiny season. Taking advantage of the warm weather and enjoying summer activities makes this season one to look forward to, but if you’re feeling the heat – literally – and need a reprieve from those bright rays and hot days, these tips will help you keep your cool.

Slather on the SPF and take frequent breaks.

Heading to the beach, the pool, or an outdoor picnic? Be sure to take shade breaks when the sun gets to be too much, whether that’s resting under a tree or heading inside for a bit. The sun is at its hottest between 11 AM and 2 PM, so if you can avoid going outside during that time or reducing your exposure, do it!

We probably don’t need to tell you how important it is to wear sunscreen, but in case you need a reminder, apply that SPF frequently when you’re out and about. Make sure you have a small tube or bottle on you at all times when you’re enjoying the summer sunshine so reapplication is easy and convenient. You may also want to consider wearing a hat or dressing in loose, breathable layers made of natural materials like cotton or linen to protect yourself from the sun’s rays.

Reduce summertime stress.

You may be feeling the heat in a few ways, not just temperature. Summer can be an action-packed season of events, travel, and more, so if you need help dealing with the pressure, reach for CalmAid®. It’s made with clinically studied lavender oil to reduce feelings of occasional anxiety, tension, and stress.*

Up your hydration game.

Don’t get dehydrated and miss out on big summer moments! Water is the best and easiest option for daily hydration, but you can also quench your thirst and hit your goals by making iced tea with your favorite herbal blend or eating hydrating fruits and veggies like cucumbers and watermelon. Delicious! Aim to drink a few more glasses of water than you normally do when you’re really sweating it out.

Refresh yourself inside and out.

Sticky, sweaty days are the worst, especially when you have places to be. Chlorofresh® Liquid Chlorophyll helps you chill inside and out; it’s a minty fresh liquid chlorophyll you can add to water, tea, or lemonade for a delicious boost on a hot day, but it also works as an internal deodorant and offers beauty benefits.* The chlorophyllin copper complex supports collagen synthesis for healthy skin.* Mint not your thing? You can also enjoy Chlorofresh in an unflavored variety.

Find immediate relief.

When you don’t have time to relax in the air conditioning or by the breeze of the fan but need to cool down ASAP, run cool water on your wrists or touch an ice cube to your neck and ankles. Cooling down your pressure points can help your whole body find balance.

Don’t forget your pets!

Your dog may go everywhere with you, but on super hot, sunny days it may be best to leave them at home. If you do venture outside together, pack a collapsible water bowl and be sure to take frequent breaks, or cut your walks short on exceptionally hot days. If the pavement is scorching, skip the sidewalk and head to the dog park instead.
